A shooting has taken place this morning near Canada's Parliament in Ottawa. A soldier standing guard at the National War Memorial was shot by a gunman, David Lee Miller reported moments ago. Gunfire was then heard around the Parliament building. Witnesses describe several dozen shots fired. One witness told CBC he saw a man running with a double-barreled shotgun, wearing a scarf and blue jeans. Prime Minister Stephen Harper is reported to be in a safe location. The incident comes just two days after two Canadian soldiers were run over -- and one of them killed -- in Quebec by a man with jihadist sympathies.
